June in Pictures

Our sweet little Colby turned three. He's getting cuter every day!

Wyatt still loves his lamby and mink-mink. They've been his comfort items of choice for three years now.
Colby had a Dinosaur Dig birthday party. Here he is discovering a baby dinosaur in the sand.

He had fun opening his gifts, and he received more toy dinosaurs than he ever could have imagined.

Blowing out the candles on his dino fossil cake!

The boys decided to make beds out of laundry baskets one morning.

Wyatt was an excellent driver during Safety Town. He had a blast!

We busted out the luxurious blow-up swimming pool. Wyatt dove right in!

Colby would only get in if Wyatt got out. He didn't like getting splashed. He did, however, enjoy squirting Daddy with a water gun.

We visited a huge dinosaur exhibit at the Museum Center.

We went to Touch-a-Truck in West Chester and Wyatt tried out a street sweeper. He was disappointed that there were no garbage trucks.

Virginia Vacation

Earlier this month, we took our third big family vacation to a historical locale--Williamsburg, Virginia. We were really excited for this trip because of a special event--Auntie Laura's wedding to Winfield!

Our trip began on a Wednesday morning, and we did the whole thing in approximately 11 hours. The boys were mostly well-behaved. Wyatt, who is four going on fourteen, asked us every five minutes, "How much longer till we're THERE!?" Thankfully, the iPad came to our rescue and kept both boys entertained through much of the car ride.

Once we arrived in Williamsburg, we spent some time with the Hickle family and settled into our attic bedroom. Yes, we all slept in one room together the entire time. It actually went pretty well. The days were so full of activities that the boys slept quite easily. Colby even slept in a twin bed!

Our first full day of vacation just happened to be a special little boy's third birthday! We decided to celebrate by spending the day at Busch Gardens. This was both boys' first trip to an amusement park, and we weren't sure what to expect. It turned out that they both LOVED it!

Daddy did most of the rides with them, although Mommy squeezed her huge pregnant self into a few of the rides.

Lucky Wyatt passed the height restriction and got to ride a roller coaster for the first time. He seemed scared the whole time, but once it was over, he asked if they could go again! Sadly, Colby was too short to ride and cried the whole time Daddy and Wyatt were on it. Maybe next time, buddy!

The next few days were filled with wedding festivities and...rain. Hurricane Andrea, which was downgraded to a Tropical Storm, dumped rain on Williamsburg for the next couple of days. By the day of the wedding, the boys were getting a little stir-crazy, so we packed them up and took a trip to the nearest Bounce House.

Both boys had a blast climbing, sliding and jumping. Colby could have played here all day, especially on the slides. This is a big deal, because just this past winter he refused to do the slides at Pump-it-Up. Wyatt got a little tired of the inflatables, so he and Mommy tore it up on the air hockey table. He really enjoyed knocking the puck around and especially scoring goals!

Later that day, the clouds parted and we were able to walk around Colonial Williamsburg for a bit before the wedding started. It really was like stepping back in time, and everywhere we looked there was something lovely to admire.

Mommy found some purple flowers and forced the boys to have their picture taken with her. Doesn't Wyatt look thrilled?

He was much happier looking at ye olde colonial trash bins. It did bother him that most of the trash cans were hidden by fences. He declared quite earnestly, "I don't like prehistoric places because they make you hide your trash cans!"

Colby had fun drinking some of the "prehistoric" water. Note that he is holding a dinosaur, one of the birthday gifts he received on his big day.

Both boys were good during the wedding, although they weren't exactly silent. After Daddy read a Bible passage during the ceremony, Wyatt said, "Good job, Dad!" Several guests turned around and giggled at him. We almost made it through the entire ceremony, but the boys got restless, so we waited outside the church during the last ten minutes. After the ceremony was over, Daddy came out to meet us and Colby excitedly asked, "Did you get married, Daddy?" Apparently, he thought that anyone who walked down that aisle was headed to the altar to get married that day.

At the reception we explored the grounds of the Williamsburg Winery, making sure to examine every trash barrel along the way. The highlight of the evening (for Mommy at least) was definitely watching the happy couple enjoy their first dance as husband and wife. Isn't Auntie Laura's dress so pretty?

We ate some yummy food and spent time with family, and then we hit the dance floor. We couldn't resist--Love Shack was playing! Such a fun song!

Around ten o'clock, we decided to call it a night and headed back to the house. We had a great time in Williamsburg, and we were so happy to be there for Auntie Laura and Uncle Winfield's special day!

But our vacation wasn't over...we headed out the next day for Virginia Beach!

More on that next time...
