Operation Pumpkin

Every fall, Hamilton has a fun pumpkin festival called Operation Pumpkin. This year we decided to check it out. We were totally unprepared, though, for the ginormous gourds we discovered there. We're talking pumpkins that nearly weighed a ton. As you can see, Jackson liked this creamsicle colored beauty. "Bobo!" he yelled. (Translation:  "Pumpkin!")

Wyatt and Colby were just as thrilled. It was nice that the pumpkins were on display and the kids were welcome to touch them and see them up close.

Another beauty.  And please note Wyatt's uniform--hoodie, comfy pants and boots. Every. Day.

In addition to giant pumpkins, there were some sizeable watermelons.

We also enjoyed seeing some amazing carved creations. Here, the boys show off Darth Vader.

Would you like to build a snowman?

And no trip to downtown Hamilton is complete without admiring the sculptures. The boys joined Lentil and Harmony in their parade down High Street. These statues are right across the street from Colby's school, and we pass them every day.

We also love Alexander Hamilton, or as we call him, Batman! Colby does a great impression of this statue, doesn't he?

November Happenings

Wyatt and Colby moved into the same bedroom and are sleeping in their new bunkbeds!

We met our favorite celebrity chef, Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond!

Jackson began sucking his thumb. It's not a habit yet, but it's really cute when he does it!

Colby built a garage/fort/city/castle with his big blocks.

Snow!

Cuddles with the baby are still a favorite among the boys.

We discovered that Wyatt and Colby LOVE doing puzzles!

Halloween

We had a lot of Halloween fun this year, starting with a visit to the pumpkin patch. We hit up Garver Family Farms and were thrilled to learn that you can go out into the patch and cut your own pumpkin! Sadly, we waited until the weekend before Halloween to go, and the only pumpkins left were either green or rotten. We did have fun in the giant pumpkin patch, though, and we were able to pick a pre-cut pumpkin from the barnyard. Wyatt also found a ginormous pumpkin stem that he still loves to examine.

A couple of days before Halloween, we set out to carve our pumpkin. Daddy graciously volunteered to pull the guts out, and Mommy carved the face. Here's the final product...

We attended a couple of fun parties--one with MOMS Club and one with Wyatt's preschool--but the real fun was trick-or-treat! Jackson didn't go out, but he dressed up as a tiger...

Colby was a fierce dinosaur, and he absolutely LOVED trick-or-treating this year!

Wyatt was a trash can! He and Mommy made this costume together, so it was extra special, and you can bet that he was the only kid out there dressed as a trash can!

Mommy and Daddy didn't dress up, but we sure did enjoy watching the kids living it up! (We may also have enjoyed eating one or two or thirty pieces of the kids'candy as well!)

Halloween Happenings

This Halloween, we experienced a little bit of deja vu. Mr. Wyatt, upon being asked what costume he'd like to wear, promptly replied, "A garbage man!" Yes, he wanted to wear this costume for the second year in a row. Mommy really got lucky here--we purchased a new vest for him at Ikea, and he was good to go...

...or so we thought. You see that cute-as-a-button excavator driver up there? Well, apparently everyone thought that construction workers must travel in packs, because when they saw our little guys coming to their doorstep, everyone said, "Oh, two little construction workers!" That is, everyone except the teenager who saw Wyatt and exclaimed, "Look! A crossing guard!" And the woman who saw him and declared, "Oh my gosh! He's a little City of Hamilton worker!"

So yeah, poor Wyatt was a little misunderstood this Halloween, but as you can tell from his candy haul, it all turned out fine in the end...

And despite horrible weather, both boys really did have a great time. They stole every opportunity to jump into puddles (hey, they were wearing work boots!), and the cold, wet wind didn't seem to bother them one bit. They marched right up to each house and declared, "Trick or treat!" Toward the end, Wyatt got a little tired of carrying his pumpkin, but thankfully Auntie Kim was willing to be his valet. Thanks, Auntie Kim!

After trick-or-treating, we headed back to Nana and Papaw's house for some dinner and pumpkin bowling with Cousin Ava. We had so much fun this Halloween!

Hello, Fall!
