Fun in the Snow

We woke up yesterday morning to an inch or so of the white stuff. Daddy was very eager to take Wyatt outside to play, so we gave him one of his Christmas presents--a red sled--early. As you can see, he really enjoyed it!

Pull, Daddy, pull!

Wyatt stayed nice and warm in the snowsuit that Nana got him, but do you wanna hear something funny? We don't have boots for Wyatt yet, so we had to improvise. Here's what we came up with...

Two socks topped with a Ziploc bag topped with shoes. You can see the Ziploc on his right foot in the picture above. Hey, his feet were warm and dry when all was said and done! (One of his shoes did pop off, though, and Wyatt was very concerned. It was quite amusing!)

What a fun afternoon we had! Now Daddy is hoping for a bigger snow so he can take Wyatt for a longer sled ride. (And Mommy will be rushing off to the store to buy the child a decent pair of winter boots!)

What Wyatt's Up To

Aw. Look at our little Picasso there. He's still getting the hang of how to hold a crayon, but he knows that if you move it fast across the paper, it makes a mark. The result is definitely abstract art, but we know he'll eventually move into the DaVinci stage and his subjects will be more realistic.

So what else is Mr. Wyatt up to these days? Almost too much to list, but we'll give it a try:
  • Taking things out of containers, cabinets, drawers, etc.
  • Putting things back into containers, cabinets, drawers, etc.
  • Walking, walking, walking, everywhere. He's on the verge of running.
  • Saying new words every day. Today he kept referring to Nellie as "Nay Nay."
  • Reading books and identifying pictures of babies, dogs, and ducks
  • Eating his absolute favorite food--bread
  • Sitting rear-facing in his big-boy carseat
  • Crawling up the steps (supervised of course!)
  • Playing in his cardboard box--er, hideout--with Daddy
  • Trying to figure out how to un-babyproof the kitchen
  • Admiring the ducks from afar
  • Playing "boo" (peek-a-boo) with a kitchen towel
It's amazing how fast he is growing and developing. His vocabulary has expanded by leaps and bounds recently. His memory is extremely sharp. And the sweetest thing is he is such a good helper. He loads and unloads the washer and dryer, picks up his toys when prompted, puts away his changing mat, and feeds Nellie her dinner every night. We are very blessed to have such a sweet little guy in our lives. Keep growing, little one, but not too fast!

Trimming the Tree

On Saturday we decided to ring in the season with a little tree trimming. Mommy and Daddy sat around on the couch while Wyatt unloaded all the decorations. What a helpful little fellow!

Of course he had to stop and decorate himself a little too!

Man, it was hard work putting up that tree all by himself. He napped for hours after this!

And here's the result! Wyatt did a great job, didn't he?

Every time he sees his handiwork, Wyatt lets out a big "Ooooooooooh!" and points. Well, okay, he does this whenever he sees any tree, not just his own. But of course, Wyatt's tree is the prettiest one of all!

He sure has come a long way since last Christmas, hasn't he!?
