Fun in the Sun

Although it has been a rather cool summer weatherwise, Wyatt has taken advantage of a couple of warm evenings with a dip in Nana's pool. He enjoyed puttering around in his boat float. Look how careful he was, holding that handle!

He also decided to gnaw on the handle. Yummy plastic!

Our fair-skinned little guy stayed in the shade under the boat's cover. He also donned his waterproof orange cap for added protection.

"Quack, quack! That's a humongous rubber duck! Hmmm. He makes me hungry..."

Wyatt also enjoyed the whale float. He found it to be quite funny...

The water seems to be one of Wyatt's favorite places. He kicks and splashes and never really seems to tire of it. Looks like those swim lessons paid off!

Cowan Lake

To celebrate our third anniversary, Mommy and Daddy took a little trip this weekend to Cowan Lake State Park in Wilmington, Ohio. The lake was peaceful and picturesque, and there were some neat activities available in the park. Since it was a little cooler than normal for July, we opted to forego swimming and boating. Instead, we decided to get back to nature and take a couple of hikes. Here's Daddy walking along a fallen tree. Look at that balance!

Mommy enjoyed admiring the American lotus colony that spanned most of the lake's shore on one side.

The lotus flowers were huge, nearly a foot in diameter, and a lovely yellow color.

When not hiking through the great outdoors, we stayed in a cozy little cottage. It was fully furnished and had everything we needed for a little weekend getaway.

It was nice to spend time together as just the two of us, but we were happy to get back to our little man. He had a good time playing with Nana and Papaw while Mommy and Daddy were gone. We'd like to take Wyatt to see the lake sometime when he's older. No doubt he'll enjoy the flora and fauna as much as Mommy and Daddy did!

Wyatt's New Word

While giving Wyatt a bath recently, Nana discovered that he knows a new word, "Quack." He especially loves to say it to his Easter duck. We're teaching him to say it to our pet ducks (who are getting quite big, by the way!).

Hope you enjoy the video!

9 Month Checkup

Yesterday we took Wyatt to see Dr. Gray for his 9 month checkup. He weighs just shy of 20 pounds and measures just over 28 inches in height, both of which are in the average range for babies his age. He's meeting all his developmental milestones with crawling, pulling up and babbling. Dr. Gray said to continue giving him soft finger foods to help him develop his self-feeding skills, and much to Daddy's excitement, she said we can slowly start introducing meats into Wyatt's diet. Although Daddy would love to see his boy devour a big juicy steak, he'll have to wait awhile for that; we're going to start off with pureed chicken instead. All in all, we were glad to hear that Wyatt is healthy and developing properly. That's what matters most!

In other matters, some of you asked how we got Wyatt to make that funny face for the last Wordless Wednesday post. Well, he kind of came up with that one all on his own. Mommy was taking some pictures of him playing on the floor and she lowered the camera to his level, snapped the pic, and was pleasantly surprise by the hilarious result. Looks like our boy is just a naturally expressive little ham. Maybe he'll take after Mommy and do theatre in school. Hmmm....

Have a great Friday!
