These days we are spending a lot of time at the park. Our favorite has an awesome pirate ship (visible in the top right corner of the photo). There is also a pebble pit with two scoop shovels. The shovels are kind of heavy, though, so the boys usually wind up wallowing in the pebbles. And wrestling, of course. These boys would wrestle anytime, anwhere, anyplace.
These days, Colby's favorite activities seem to consist of emptying, knocking over, dumping out, or generally destructing things. It's like he's a human excavator. And speaking of excavators, his new future ambition is to be an excavator driver, and he tells this to everyone who speaks to him while out in public. Mommies on the playground, senior citizens in the grocery store, teachers at Wyatt's school...they all hear it in Colby's most serious voice. It's pretty hilarious.
These days, Wyatt's favorite activities seem to consist of setting up, moving around and generally rearranging things. Obviously those things are usually trash cans, both regular-sized and the miniature variety. He spends long stretches of time in quiet contemplation while placing them in just the right location. They are often filled with Legos or other toys serving as trash. It is not unusual to walk into the living room and find them lined up along the side of the couch, or to walk into the kitchen and find them lined up on the rug beneath the kitchen sink. Mommy remembers so well when Wyatt was a tiny baby and she wondered when he would ever be able to entertain himself; well, it seems that time has come.
We know what you experienced parents are probably thinking: Colby's activities and Wyatt's activities seem to be the opposite of each other. Destruction vs. construction. Oh yes, Mommy and Daddy are painfully aware of this. Should we dare turn our backs for more than three seconds, we are sure to hear a blood-curdling scream. Upon turning to face the boys, we see Colby's foot hovering over the scene of the crime, toy trash cans lying willy-nilly on their sides, and Wyatt's face red with rage. And, of course, a huge smile of satisfaction spreads across Colby's face. Someday we'll look back on all this and laugh. These days, though, we can only remind ourselves that this too shall pass, and then we try to separate them before the wrestling match commences.
Sounds like a lot of fun! But, Ouch. I can just imagine the spilled legos. Watch your feet!

I used to tell Wyatt one day Colby would be big enough to get him back when Wyatt bothered Colby. Hmmmm seems like the time has come!
